La Estación de Suwon empezó a operar para trenes regulares el 1° de enero de 1905. Más adelante, el 31 de diciembre de 1975, se le añadió la estación de metro. La estación se encuentra en la línea 1 y en la línea Gyeongbu donde circulan los trenes Samaeul y Mugunghwa. El 1° de enero de 1966 cerraron la línea Suin y la Estación Gauge dejó de funcionar. El febrero de 2003, se estableció la estación de inversión privada. Desde el 1° de noviembre de 2010, un tren KTX de la línea Gyeongbu de Seúl a Daejeon hace parada en la Estación de Suwon.
