Seoul Design Festival first launched in 2002 based on content featured on the monthly "Design" and network ties in the design industry. The festival aims to promote designers, brands, and corporations as well as introduce local and international design trends. The festival also encourages domestic and international designers, as well as those who work in the field, to connect and build a social network to further expand their careers.

Seoul Book Fair first started as International Book Exhibition in 1954 and was recognized as an international book fair by the International Publishers Association in 1995. The book fair is held annually at COEX, aiming to promote Korean publications abroad, strengthen competitiveness of the publishing industry, promote reading among the public, and allow the public to enjoy diverse cultures through literature.

As the nation began to recover from the aftermath of the Korean War, farmers from the northern Gyeonggi-do region and Ganwon-do gathered around the old Seongdong Station (renamed ‘Hansol Donguibogam’) to sell their produce and wares. The farmers’ impromptu gathering on the fallow farmland to make their transactions soon led to the birth of a new marketplace. With the recent remodeling of the market, including the long-neglected Gyeongdong Theater, the place feels totally renewed and full of energy. Thanks to the renovation and diverse food stalls, the place is always bustling and filled with people.
