La gare de Daejeon se situe au centre de la Coree du Sud et est aussi celui de Korail. Avec l’ouverture de la ligne Gyeongbu le 1er janvier 1905, elle a connu à ses débuts le fonctionnement d’une gare normale. Située au Sud-Est de la ville, la gare de Daejeon est le coeur du réseau ferrovier de la ville. En effet elle est au carrefour des lignes reliant les gares de Seoul, Gwangju, dong (Est)-Daegu, Busan, Ulsan, Pohang et autres. Séparée en deux parties, l’autre partie de la gare forme la station de métro de la gare de Daejeon.
