El festival comenzó en 2009 y cada año tiene lugar en octubre. Este evento celebra la cultura emergente del café en Gangneung, una ciudad que en los últimos años ha acogido tanto a famosas cadenas de cafeterías como a pequeñas que lo preparan de forma artesanal.
