Las cascadas Jeongbang son las únicas de Asia que arrojan sus aguas directamente al mar. Sobre el paredón de las cascadas hay una inscripción que dice “Seobulgwacha”, referido a Seobul pasando por el lugar. Seobul fue un servidor del emperador chino Jin (259-210 a.C.), que había recibido la orden de hallar la sustancia que volviera inmortal a su emperador. Se dice que incluso Seogwipo recibió ese nombre porque Seobul regresó a su país por el oeste.

Las cascadas Jeongbang se hallan sobre un alto acantilado frente al mar, y un viejo pino se encuentra de pie allí inclinado como si fuera a caer al océano en cualquier momento. Yendo hacia el este unos 300 metros hallará otra cascada llamada Sojeongbang. Es un fabuloso lugar para relajarse durante el verano. En la cima del acantilado hay un observatorio desde el cual podrá deleitar su vista con el delicado panorama del mar circundante.
